“When people talk about climate change, they are talking about changing temperature and weather on the Planet Earth. Temperature on Earth is increasing day by day, the main reason of it’s getting warmer is because too much of heat is getting trapped in Earth’s atmosphere. Every time energy is used, there is an emission of heat into the atmosphere. More and more cars are seen on the road and most of the houses have Air-Conditioner, Computers and other Electronic Gadgets, which emit heat and carbon-di-oxide” said Shri N.C. Bajpai, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission UP, the main speaker on the inaugural day of National Seminar on “Sources of Planet Energy, Environmental & Disaster Science: Challenges and Strategies.”
The two days national seminar was organized by “School of Management Sciences” Lucknow in association with Institution of Engineers on 7th and 8th September, 2013 in Institute’s campus. Known Environment experts from all over the country were present on the first day of seminar along with Technocrats from Institution of Engineers (UP State Centre).
Mr. S.K. Goel, Executive Member, Institution of Engineers, said “Global warming is the main reason behind melting of Glaciers and rise in sea water level. New York in America is supposed to be a safest city but the rise in sea water level is responsible for disaster brought by hurricane ‘Sandy’.”
Director SMS Prof.(Dr.) B.R. Singh pin pointed as to how an individual can help prevent climate change. Prof. Singh said “There are three areas where we can make the most impact in reducing carbon emission, use minimum electricity at home, produce less amount of waste and chose right kind of transport.”
CEO & Secretary SMS Shri. Sharad Singh emphasized that today’s fast life is the main culprit behind global warming. He said “In today’s modern life nobody thinks that they them self are responsible for this extreme weather conditions. Tree plantations can be of help in reducing CO2 density which will ultimately help in reducing global warming.” Mr. Singh also reiterated that the main reason for Uttrakhand catastrophe was deforestation of Hills.
