School of Management Sciences, Lucknow organized a 2 Days International Seminar on “ Sources of Planet Energy, Environmental and Disaster Science: Challenges and Strategies”, (SPEEDS-2015) in association with Council of Science and Technology, U.P., & The Institution of Engineers (India) U.P. State Center, on 21st-22nd November, 2015.
This third seminar in series speaks volume of the need for creating awareness for environmental issues that affect every individual on this planet and provides a plateform to the academicians, industrialist, researchers and students at large to make serious debate on environmental related global issues.
The inaugural session of the seminar was graced by the benign presence of Hon’ble Minister, Science & Technology Govt. of U.P., Dr. Manoj Kumar Pandey (Chief Guest), Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, MMMTU, Gorakhpur, Prof. (Dr.) Onkar Singh, Er. A.K. Gupta, Chairman, IE (I), UP State Centre, (Guest of Honour), Er. J.R. Singh, Ex Consultant, KOC, Kuwait (Keynote Speaker), Dr. D.K. Srivastava, Joint Director, UP-CST, Lucknow, Dr. S.M. Prasad, Senior Scientist (CST), Mr. Sharad Singh, CEO & Secretary, SMS Lucknow, Prof(Dr.) B.R.Singh, Seminar Convener & Director SMS-IET. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the Organizing Secretary Dr. P.K.Singh, Associate Professor SMS-IET.
The session was started with key note speeches by eminent speakers like Prof. (Dr.) Raghuvir Kumar, Director, BBDNITM, Lucknow, Prof.(Dr.) P.K. Bharti, Head of ME, Integral University, Lucknow, and it was followed by first technical session .
Chief Guest for the valedictory session was Prof. (Dr.) A. S. Vidyarhti, Director IET, Lucknow, Shri G. N. Sinha, Retired IPS Officer (Guest of Honour), Dr. D. K. Srivastava, Joint Director, CST, UP Government, Dr. D.K. Gupta, Chief Engineer (Retd) & HOD (Civil), BBDNIC, Lucknow also graced the event.
Before the starting of second technical session, the eminent speakers like Dr. Alok Kumar – Professor & Dean (R&D), SMS, Varanasi, Prof. (Dr) Niraj Gupta – Prof. & Dean (ME), SRMU, Lucknow, delivered their key notes. The invited speakers were univocal in appreciating the efforts of organizing committee to make the seminar a grand success.
Approximately 109 Research Papers were received, 90 papers were selected for presentation and 45 papers were presented.
On this Occasion, A presentation on immensely successful annual environmental campaign “Green Quest” was also made. This campaign targets youth for instilling a sense of responsibility towards environment. The seminar also witnessed the unveiling of the book titled “Global Warming-2” authored by Prof. (Dr.) B. R. Singh, Director SMS-IET along with the unveiling of Souvenir of SPEEDS-2015.
