One of the oldest and most important Ghats, Dashashwamedh Ghat is one of the most vibrant Ghats of Varanasi. Two Hindu mythologies are prevalent about this ghat, first that this ghat was built by Lord Brahma to welcome Lord Shiva, and the second legend is that 10 horses were sacrificed during the Yagya here. Dashashwamedh Ghat Banaras comes alive during the Ganga Aarti in the evening. Presentation by young pundits dressed in saffron robes and the Ganga Aarti takes place as an elaborate ceremony, ending with worship, dance and fire.
